Twas the night before Christmas, when all through the house
Not a creature was stirring, not even a mouse.
The stockings were hung by the chimney with care,
In hopes that St Nicholas soon would be there.

I’ve been thinking… thinking… thinking… of something inspiring to write for Christmas. Alas! The days are passing by too fast and I still have nothing really inspiring to post; so you will need to bear with me as I blabber on instead. LOL 😀

Time was when I really looked forward to Christmas time. I used to love this season of the year. I’m not exactly sure how or when I have stopped enjoying it. Perhaps I’m getting old, but come this time of the year, I always kid around that I’ m the grinch. I’m honestly not fond of too much festivities that come with the season. People have become too materialistic and the occasion has become too commercialized. So if you ask me what Christmas is all about, I’d say the only thing I look forward to during Christmas time is the “Misa de Gallo” or Midnight Mass. For me, the season won’t be complete if I have not taken part in this tradition. It’s been five years since I started my own tradition. In fact, I’m the only one in the family who takes part in it. Nonetheless, it’s something I love to do.

The last quarter of the year is a time for reflection. I like looking back and pondering on what I’ve spent my time on during the year. It’s also a time for planning ahead, although this is not something I’ve done in a while. It’s actually the second year that we’re celebrating Christmas without my dad. How time flies indeed! Instead of wasting time on all the trimmings, I’d rather celebrate the season for its real meaning. I’m truly thankful for all the blessings that continue to come my way. I wish and pray that the coming year will be a better one for the whole world. I believe we’ve had more than our share of calamities, disasters, and unrest for 2011.

Wherever you are and whatever you do, I wish you peace, happiness, good health, and prosperity this season and the whole year through. Have a very Merry Christmas to you and your family and loved ones! 😀
