Goal Setting for the New Year 2013

I better post this message now before I get caught up with preparations for the New Year. ย Yes, we like welcoming the New Year by taking as many videos of the fireworks everywhere! I sure hope there would be some awesome ones to shoot tomorrow night.

Anyway, are you well prepared for 2013? Well, it’s always the best time for goal setting for the new year. Forget New Year Resolutions — they don’t work! Just watch the video to know more.

Basically, if you want to set goals that you can achieve, take note of the following…

  • Write it down – Don’t just say it, write it down! Yes, get it on ink and paper just to be sure that you do achieve it! If you’re truly serious, this is one step you won’t miss.
  • Set a deadline – One reason why New Year Resolutions don’t work is the lack of deadline set. Yes, you need to be definite as to when you intend to achieve this goal. This works esp. well if one wants to lose some weight or learn some new skills.
  • Remind yourself constantly – Harness the power of your subconscious mind to push you in achieving your goal. Don’t set goals that others want you to achieve. Set goals you want to achieve for yourself, then enlist the help of your subconscious mind. How to remind yourself? Post-It notes help! Post it everywhere you can see it often.
  • Review your goals – Set aside time at least once every quarter to see how well you’re doing with your goal setting. At the same time, you can make adjustments or revisions to your goals as you see fit.ย

What’s with the Weather?

This won’t be a long post. I’ve just been caught up lately with trying to catch up with world happenings. Nothing major, it’s just me wanting to be informed about many topics of the times,i.e. magnetic pole reversal, extreme weather conditions, etc.

Well, the southern part of the country was just badly hit by Typhoon Pablo (international name Bopha). We have yet to recover from it.

NDRRMC: Damage from Typhoon Pablo rises to P36.9B

Now, there’s already a new one — Tropical Storm Quinta (international name Wukong).

Quinta forges ahead to northern Palawan, leaves at least 3 dead

However, it’s not just locally. I just happened at some international weather news as well.

So what’s causing these adverse weather conditions? Is climate change to be blamed? ย Well, what we can do at the moment is to be informed on what’s happening globally. Take care and be safe! ๐Ÿ™‚

The 12th Planet, Miss Universe, and Fireworks

Plus this blog post to put them all together! Well, I was offline for most of the day yesterday as I was catching up with my reading. That’s right! I’ve been interested in the Doomsday topic since I stumbled on it recently. No, I’m not jumping on the bandwagon to scare people, but I’m trying to read up and be informed on articles, news, and even videos about it. Who knows? The knowledge may come in handy…

Twelfth Planet: Book I of the Earth Chronicles (The Earth Chronicles)

I’m not surprised that Zecharia Sitchin’s The 12th Planet has been considered a bestseller. Even if it was written more than 3 decades ago, I find it to be a totally enjoyable book to read! It’s not for everyone though. If you’re interested in some “histories of the past” and have an open mind, go ahead and read the book. It’s like reading a documentary by National Geographic or Discovery Channel. It’s so interesting that I want to read all the other books in the series.

Then, there was the replay of Miss Universe 2012 on late night TV. If you don’t know, Miss Philippines won the 1st Runner-Up spot so yes, we are all interested. I think Janine Tugonon did a great job, esp. in the Q & A portion of the competition!

So towards the end of the show, we suddenly heard lots of fireworks going off! I even made some funny remarks about it to my daughter since I was wondering what’s with all the fireworks when it’s not even the New Year’s yet and it was past midnight that time!

The lights all went off for a few seconds. After which we started hearing fire trucks in the street below. So we rushed out to find out more about the commotion and saw huge smoke a few blocks away. I even managed to get a photo and video. It was pretty dark though since it was really late.

Binondo Fire 12-24-2012

I just learned in the morning that the fire was in a commercial building in the vicinity. Well, just the same, I didn’t sleep all that well last night as fire engines were passing by below practically the whole night. ๐Ÿ™‚

And now, I will need to prepare for Christmas Eve dinner… so until then, have a Blessed and Merry Christmas! ๐Ÿ˜€ Talk later… ta-tah!

Last Night of the World…

Chinese Lantern Christmas Tree
Chinese Lantern Christmas Tree

…and here I am updating my blog! ๐Ÿ˜€ Well, if you are to believe the Mayan calendar and the prediction that said that it’s the end of another cycle. Well, I doubt if we’re on the same calendar as the one the Mayans used a long time ago. For all we know, only the end can foretell the end.

For now, life goes on! ๐Ÿ™‚

Over the past weekend, my daughter and I decided to explore the neighborhood mall and act like tourists. We also decided to experience the fireworks display held there every weekend of this month. It was a rainy Sunday afternoon so we waited till the rain dissipated.

There we were with camera in tow, taking shots like a bunch of tourists to the place. It truly isn’t something we always do. But hey, it’s fun sometimes.

I even shot a video of the brief moment of the fireworks display which was a bit difficult as I had to strain my neck and back just to get a nice shot of the sky above it.

The photo above showed the Chinese lantern Christmas tree located at the Chinatown walk of the said mall. Notice it was rather cloudy in the first shot. Well, it was nearing sunset and just after the rain too. I took another shot during the night as I wanted to see it all lighted up. And true enough, there it is! So cool! There were lots of other people also taking photos by the said lantern tree. Such a nice site indeed! ๐Ÿ™‚ I have a few other photos but have yet to decide where to share them. Anyway, here’s the short video of the fireworks display that I took. Enjoy the upcoming weekend!

Ten Things I Like About Facebook

My own “ten lists.” That’s what I’m planning to do. It’s actually for a Squidoo lens that I’m going to be working on soon. Before I come up with my own “latest ten” lens, I want to be able to include other “ten lists” on it too. That way, my lens wouldn’t look so bare. This is one of those ideas that popped into my head — “ten things I like about Facebook.”

Get Facebook Buttons

Here is my own list:

  • It’s my digital photo album. –With the advent of digital technology, I no longer need to have my photos developed. In a way, that’s a good thing. I simply choose which ones to print out and keep the rest on a digital photo album.
  • It’s a way to communicate with others out there. –High school classmates, old colleagues are just some folks that one can find on Facebook. Plus, you can make new friends as well from anywhere in the world.ย
  • I like reading others’ status updates. –It’s just interesting to read about real life stories. No, I don’t like to gossip, but I do enjoy the social connection.ย
  • I like playing games once in a while. –I don’t play as much as I used to. But once in a while, it’s pretty good to waste a little time in games that I enjoy playing.ย
  • Keeping in touch with old friends is a breeze. –This is presuming that your friend is actively posting on Facebook as well. Some folks put up an account but hardly ever log in.
  • I can set up my own fan page. –I’ve set up two fan pages. You can check out one of them by clicking on the Facebook button above.
  • It’s a good venue to promote online opportunities. –It’s not limited to online businesses or opportunities anymore. A lot of offline businesses are taking their business promotions online too. It’s a good way to build a loyal following.
  • I like sharing my blog posts, Squidoo lenses, Hubpages hubs, and other articles on it. –It’s more fun to write when you know that someone’s reading it too.ย
  • It’s a way to keep up with worldwide trends. –Together with Twitter, it’s also a way for me to learn of the latest news – local and international. I remember reading about Michael Jackson’s demise on Facebook a few years back.ย
  • I can have an awesome cover photo. –Lame. But I’ve run out of stuff to add. The cover photo is a way for me to customize the look of my page, although I did like the old format better.ย

Well that’s my list! How about you? Are you on Facebook too? If so, what do you like about it? I welcome your feedback on this post! ๐Ÿ˜€

Dream Travel Destination: Ancient Ruins in Peru

Macchu Picchu

There is one YouTube channel that I recently discovered, UFOTV. I find the uploaded videos truly interesting and plan to watch as many of the featured videos as my schedule can allow. That’s the main reason why my post today is about one of my dream travel destinations — the ancient ruins in Peru.

The latest video that was uploaded on UFOTV was entitled “Ancient Aliens in Peru.” The feature is more than an hour and forty-five minutes long, so you’ll really need to set aside time to watch it. It’s so interesting because it not only takes you to a travel through the ancient ruins but also talks about the amazing features of the architectural structures of the ancient ruins.

There is also speculation about the existence of an ancient culture even older than the Incas and a reference to a lost continent called Mu. If you’re a fan of the mysteries of the past, you will enjoy watching the video. For me, it’s like I took that much dreamed about travel to the many ancient ruins sites in Peru. A regular travel wouldn’t probably be as comprehensive and detailed. I think the directors did a great job covering the story.

I’ll definitely share more stories from the other videos next time around. Have fun! Ta-tah! ๐Ÿ˜€
