Warm Bodies: Zombie-Human Romance — What?!

Warm Bodies: A Novel

What? No, I have not read the novel, but I have gone to the movies with my daughter over the weekend. I must say it was a pretty busy weekend. We watched a total of three movies — Hansel & Gretel (action), Chinese Zodiac (action-comedy), and Warm Bodies (romance comedy).

Sounds pretty busy, right? Anyway, all movies were quite interesting. I was just intrigued by the last one — Warm Bodies. I won’t exactly consider myself a fan of Twilight, so it wouldn’t be quite surprising that I find the concept of this movie a bit odd or strange. It is a bit out of ordinary for how can you imagine a zombie and a human being in a romance? WTF?! That was my initial reaction. First there were vampires and werewolves, now zombies. Hey, we used to be afraid of them when we were kids. It seems that some young folks these days have thought of even dating them. Eww? What has the world come into??

Well, I don’t know how much of the film has stayed true to the novel, but the movie isn’t so bad after all. It was quite funny in some parts, quite scary in others, and quite romantic too. Yes, there was even a balcony scene much like in Romeo and Juliet. LOL! 😀 Oh boy!

I guess I’m pretty much old school. I mean, I wouldn’t exactly blow the heads off zombies if they won’t eat my brains, but a zombie-human romance is a bit over my head at this point. So glad it is but one novel and so we won’t expect more sequels to follow! 🙂 If you like to get a little scared and yet would like to see a romantic film of sorts, go ahead and watch Warm Bodies. The movie is quite fine, and you’ll probably enjoy it too! Well, that’s it for now… gotta keep busy before I turn into a zombie 😛

Month-to-Date Update — January 31st, 2013

Wow! I can’t believe that a month has passed since the start of the year. I sometimes feel that perhaps the Earth is rotating faster so that days go by too quickly! LOL 😀

Not much has happened — at least nothing exciting to mention. Strange weather related stuff in other parts of the world but not directly where I am. Cold weather has dissipated a bit, and I sure miss having to don a jacket. It’s going to be summer soon and I’m not sure if I look forward to sweating it out in the warm weather. Still there’s not much to complain.

I shared this on my Internet marketing blog and thought I’d mention it here too.. I finally got paid by HubPages — yeah, after over a year of on and off writing, I finally reached payout of $50. Yebah! 😀 So if you have a penchant for writing and sharing your interests and talent, you may also want to join me there. Just click on the HubPages banner below.

By tomorrow, it will be February. Where I am, what we’re looking forward to is the Chinese New Year celebration. That’s happening on the 10th of February this year. It will be ushering in the Year of the Water Snake. After that will be Valentine’s Day, not that I celebrate it much. Then, there’s the People Power Revolution anniversary on the 25th of the month. It’s going to be a short month filled with stuff to do! 🙂 Now that’s something to look forward to.

That’s it for now! I will be back here soon… till next time… ta-tah! 🙂

Ancient Aliens Series : Thought-Provoking!

I’m coming into this field rather late. I know some enthusiasts have probably been following this ancient aliens theory for quite some time already. I must admit that I stumbled upon it while researching on topics related to Zecharia Sitchin’s works.

If you have an interest in the history of mankind and have an open mind, I would recommend that you catch this series on the History Channel.

It is indeed thought-provoking! I do enjoy watching the many episodes. If you’re interested in knowing more, you can go to Wikipedia and search for “ancient aliens.” The episodes are listed there. I also just learned that they have a fifth season which is currently running. You can search on YouTube for the older episodes.

One of the other reasons why I enjoy watching the series is that I get to learn about many new places. And for me it’s like I get to travel to those places without leaving the comforts of home.

I love a good mystery too. For me, the origins of the universe and mankind are some of the biggest mysteries around. So I definitely am not passing up a chance to read or watch more about it. And if ever there comes a chance that I will get to travel around the world, I would love to see the many mysterious places from all over! 😀

Here are just some of them……. (from top to bottom: Pyramid of Giza in Egypt, Teotihuacan in Mexico, and Neolithic Carnac Stones in France) I would love to see them in person! Plus there are so many more worldwide…

Anyway, that’s it for now! I gotta get back to work… till next post! Ta-tah! 😀 Happy week ahead!

An Asteroid Called Apophis and a Dust Storm in Onslow

Apophis pass

Amazing stuff on the news.. sorry it’s a week late though. If you’re tuned in to the news, you would know by now that last week’s news contained the flyby of the huge asteroid Apophis and that Australian dust storm in Onslow, Western Australia.

I’m a bit confused with the date and all but I think the dust storm happened on Wednesday, January 9th. Live coverage of the Apophis flyby started around 7pm EST also on Wednesday night. I’m on GMT +8 so the time zone difference still kinda leaves me a bit befuddled.

Anyway, here’s the video for the Apophis flyby that was covered by Slooh.com. (Slooh Space Camera Broadcast YouTube channel)

We are definitely going to see more of Apophis in 2029! On the other side of the globe, here’s the video of the dust storm in Onslow shared via Perth Weather Live.

Video taken from Onslow in Western Australia on the 9th January 2013.

More photos found on this article, “Freakish Dust Storm Sweeps Over Western Australia.”

If the topic also interests you, there’s a weekly update that I also read via HubPages. This week’s article is about “extreme weather.”

Life of Pi : Amazing Cinematic Experience

I probably would have missed this movie if my daughter didn’t ask me to watch it with her. I’ve heard of the book, but I didn’t know there’s a movie version till my daughter told me.

It’s an amazing cinematic experience that shouldn’t be missed. Do take your family to watch the film. But younger children might get a little scared in some scenes. There was a child who cried when we were watching. What can I say? Even I got terrified in the parts where the tiger, Richard Parker, almost pounced on Pi.

But most of the ocean scenes are beautiful… from the peaceful and tranquil ocean to the stormy ones. Then there’s Meerkat Island — thousands of them all around! Wow!

It’s a good film, so it’s no wonder that it’s nominated for Best Picture in the Academy Awards. Now, my daughter plans to read the book as it’s supposed to have more details on the voyage at sea with Pi and his tiger.

Space Travel Anyone?

I can’t help but take note of this piece of news from the evening news. It’s just a bit strange that it will come up after all that’s happening around. I mean, some may choose not to take notice, and I don’t really want to sound paranoid. But you’ve got to admit that we’ve seen bouts of extreme weather conditions and strong earthquakes within the past two years or so. Sure, authorities from all over attribute it to climate change. But is that all there is to it? I guess I’m personally doubtful and do believe there is something more to it than just mere climate change or global warming. Perhaps there is something in the earth’s true history that includes a global cataclysm every so often — like every 3600 years or so. Who knows? Mankind doesn’t live long enough to tell the real story… or perhaps we are just too dense to ask the questions and prefer to worry more about nonsensical stuff like the next reality search big winner :p Seriously! Here are the links to the local news I was talking about…

Happy New Year! Let’s Welcome 2013…

Animated New Year Graphics
New year glitter comments, animated newyear gif scraps, happy new year wishes

Better late than never, I want to post this New Year greeting on my main site. Happy New Year! It’s time to welcome 2013…

I have always loved the New Year as for me it brings hope for a better tomorrow. 2012 is gone. Time to say good-bye to the old year and welcome the new one. My previous post was on goal setting. I must admit I have stopped doing it for quite some time now. Perhaps it’s time to get back to the task.

Time flies by so fast and I guess I just want to maximize the best use of my time. Time is gold. Cliche, true. But to me, it is one important resource ‘coz no matter where you are in the world, what your status in life is, who you are, or what you do, we all have but 24 hours in a day. No more, no less. We owe it to ourselves and to humankind to use time wisely.

There’s a lot of work to be done daily. And since mid-December, my list of task has expanded to include household chores. You see, our laundry woman finally decided to retire after twenty years. Instead of incurring additional expenses in having laundry done, I’d rather now do it myself. Throw in ironing too. Well, I’m sure I can fit it in my schedule. I just need to have good time management. And life does go on… I have a feeling 2013 is going to be one challenging year! :p But I’m sure that all will be well at the end of the day. 🙂

Well, that’s it for now. I wish you more blessings of joy, peace, prosperity, and good health for the New Year! And this fruit basket… They say it’s lucky to have twelve sweet round fruits on the table when welcoming the New Year. (Read “12 Fruits for the New Year – A New Year Tradition” for more info.)
