As I was about to blog about this topic, I found that my website was out of commission. It had to take a support ticket and several hours later before I could finally access it. And so, there’s more to be thankful for today as my website comes back online.
Each day is a brand new day, a chance to make a difference. I’ve always believed in that line. If you wake up each day, there’s a lot to be thankful for. So have you thanked someone today?
Indeed, why do I believe showing gratitude and appreciation is important? For one, when you’re grateful for the good things in your life, you tend to attract even more good things. It kinda reminds me of the Law of Attraction — you attract what you think.
When you show gratitude, your attitude exudes some kind of positivity that most people find attractive. I mean, who wants to be around a negative person all the time right? When you uplift others, they like being around you. Your circle of friends grows.
Showing gratitude brings you more success in your personal and professional life. Your relationship with others — family, friends, colleagues, and partner — tends to grow as well.
So how do you start showing gratitude and appreciation? It’s fairly simple really. Start off by counting your blessings! Give thanks when you wake up in the morning and before you go to bed at night. Be thankful for all the blessings you now enjoy in your life, no matter how small it might seem.
Keep a gratitude journal. If you need to, then jot down all the good things that happen to you daily. For this year, I’m starting on my own gratitude tree — my version of gratitude journal. I’m using an old drawing by my daughter and a booklet of little colorful post it notes. Each day, I will write something I am grateful and thankful for. By year end, I envision a canvass full of colorful post it’s. 😀
Lastly, use your talent to help people. We are blessed with qualities and talents that we can use to benefit not just ourselves, but others in general. If you have extra money, then give to the needy. If you have time, then volunteer at a local organization that helps the needy. Get involved in a cause you feel strongly about like saving the environment or promoting a green and clean community.
At the end of each day, take time to reflect and meditate on all the good things in your life. This helps renew your energy for the next day. It may take some effort and work at the start, but like all habits, it becomes part of your being when you consistently apply it in your life. Remember to give thanks for your blessings… today and every day!
Have a fulfilling 2014! Till next update… ta-tah!
