Throwback Thursday. Destination #13 was our halloween adventure at Eastwood City. This adventure came in two parts. The first time we trekked to Eastwood Mall was to claim the movie tickets I won when I joined an online promo of Megaworld Lifestyle Malls. Mind you, I won 6 movie tickets!!!
It was a rather rainy afternoon and the place really looked deserted. Wow! But then again, it was my daughter’s semestral break and it was a weekday too.
We didn’t stay long that first time. We just watched a new movie that opened that day, “She’s the One” starring Bea Alonzo and DingDong Dantes. Then we hurried home ‘coz I have afternoon tutorials.
Since we didn’t get to use the movie tickets, an idea of a halloween getaway adventure popped up. Hey, we were trying to complete my daughter’s 18 destinations. We have time to take advantage of the semestral break before classes go back in November.
We remembered seeing a Microtel Hotel along the main road near Eastwood City and did our online research. Microtel Acropolis was offering some room promo at that time. We thought it best to book an overnight stay and bring Mom along so she could also enjoy her break. Since we were booked somewhere near, we could then take our time and need not hurry while we enjoy walking around the whole area.
Since it was halloween, we did see some awesome halloween decor in the area. As it turned out, there was also some activity scheduled that night — Sine Sindak 2013 by Cinema One. It was an outdoor screening of a scary movie. There was a short program and we even spotted Robi Domingo and Alex Gonzaga as hosts of the said program.
Mom decided to go back to the hotel soon after since she didn’t want to miss her nightly TV programs. My daughter and I went back to enjoy going around the mall area, having dinner and ice cream later, and simply hanging out while we were people watching.
I noticed that the area seems to come alive at night. It was definitely busier than the first time we went to claim my movie tickets. I guess there are quite a number of BPO’s or call centers in the area, and a number of people work the night shift. It was fun staying out late, but we soon got tired and decided to go back to the hotel too.
The main road seems to be quite busy even at that time of night. I snapped a photo of the main road as we were on the overpass bridge on the way to Microtel and it showed slow moving traffic on one side of the road. That was indeed interesting.
Overall it was a fun and relaxing overnight stay at Microtel Acropolis. The room was pretty cold and the beds are huge and comfy! Mom and I shared one bed, while Bea enjoyed the other one to herself. Hotel wi-fi is great too! The only downside is perhaps that the hotel does not have a pool, but we’re not into that so it didn’t matter much. Breakfast the following morning was just as good. There we were enjoying destination #13 with Mom. Five more to go… with four more waiting to be drafted and posted. Till next update… ta-tah!
